The theatrical research of the 90s and the early 2000s has focused on aesthetics with the invention of a new language of the scene. Among theatre’s various elements the visual aspects were fundamental and always linked to the dramaturgical process. The artistic work was mostly behind closed doors. In the mid90s the new generation started to open to the pubblic the artistic process through the invention of specific formats. The aim was no longer to create a new scenic language deeply connected to the visual image, but rather to renew the relationship between actor and audience with the introduction of new devices. Today the artists are beginning to experiment with new storytelling forms, about their own art-making process, realizing not merely shows but rather projects. Besides theatre are now emerging many other transmedial explorations.
