One of the focal points of the Gent Manifesto states that «at least one production per season should be performed in a war zone, without any cultural infrastructure». This paper reflects on Hate Radio, a production in which the director deals with the complexities of the genocide in Rwanda through the reconstruction of a radio broadcast aired on RTLM / Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines — the Rwandan radio station that was instrumental in the terrible genocide of the Tutsi minority in 1994. The show is analyzed through the tools of contemporary historiography: public history, the management of difficult heritage and the reconciliation of collective memory. In this way, Milo Rau’s theater becomes a mirror of history but also an instrument of analysis of contemporary reality
