This essay explores the intersections between Aristophanes and Marco Martinelli’s theatrical work, highlighting the role of ancient comedy in the pedagogy of the non-scuola and in choral projects with adolescents. A central section reconstructs Aristophanes’ relationship with war, showing how his plays—rooted in the Peloponnesian conflicts—reflect on the significance and limits of peace amid Athenian political contradictions. The rereading of Peace, developed with Chickenshed Theatre and the Arrevuoto project in Naples and Pompei, serves as a dialogue with the present, staging conflicts, dreams, and the social demands of new generations. Martinelli’s workshops, centered on the chorus and antiwar themes, provide insights for a theater pedagogy based on listening and transformation.
