This paper offers the profile of Umberto Albini and Dario Del Corno, two scholars who paid great attention to Greek and Latin drama, besides their studies on many other subjects. Their common feature is the ability to achieve a perfectly balanced interaction between ancient and modern culture, past and present drama. The paper, therefore, analyses this interdisciplinary activity and its pioneering approach to drama as a living art: both Albini and Del Corno put themselves to the test not only of scenic translations, but also of a ground-breaking philological criticism applied to the stage, its space, time and unique language.
