The paper is a concise report of the meeting “Le vie della narrazione” (Catholic University of “Sacro cuore” in Milan, 11th of April, 2011). Around a table theatricals and academics, for a useful exchange of views. Professor P. Branca (Arabic language and literature) spoke about the importance of oral communication in Arabic culture, as strong as being able to shape the insight of what Poetry itself means: not Literature – like in the Western culture – but quite a historical archive. P. Vacis, teacher but mainly man of theatre, shifted the argument on the contemporary situation of theatre, similar to a Indian reservation (using a metaphor made by professor C. Bernardi at the very beginning of the conference). But the real star of the meeting was M. Cuticchio, cuntista and puparo (i.e. a storyteller who belongs to ancient popular tradition of the Sicily): his sincere and detailed story about his work, his techniques, and what does it mean for him the narration, has delighted the whole audience – as the speakers, composed half of theatricals and half of academics.
