The paper is a personal tribute to Umberto Albini and Dario Del Corno, who are first defined “two academics in the rehearsal room”: the definition comes from a paper by Oliver Taplin, The Experience of an Academic in the Rehearsal Room, and it fits well to their double commitment, in theatre and in academics. The paper aims at showing, with examples, why they may be considered models and pioneers, in Italy, not only for their lessons and essays on classical reception and ancient drama performances, but also for their direct engagement as translators and dramaturg / assistants in classical productions.
